For John because although I never met him, I still miss him

Acoustic folk rock, singer-songwriter
I've been singing since I was able to gurgle but only playing the guitar since I was 11, when my "father homeward came one day and gave to me a toy" (Thanks, Tom). That was about 50 years ago give or take a few months and I've been singing, playing and writing songs on and off, during all that time.

Story behind the song
An intensely personal song about a very public event. I remember being woken by my radio alarm at 5:30AM the morning of John Lennon's death and hearing the news. I was in total shock (along with millions of other people). I wrote this song in about 10 minutes, the next evening. It came very quickly and I was (and still am) pleased with it. I've rarely played it to anyone because I don't want to be seen as in any way exploiting the event for my own benefit.
