I've been singing since I was able to gurgle but only playing the guitar since I was 11, when my "father homeward came one day and gave to me a toy" (Thanks, Tom). That was about 50 years ago give or take a few months and I've been singing, playing and writing songs on and off, during all that time.

Story behind the song
This is about the only song I've ever written to order. A friend was producing a animated short called "Life" and asked me to write a song for it. I've always felt it is one of my best efforts; really written from my heart. I knew I wanted a very bare recording. I used a Collings C-10 tuned to Open 'E'. I've always been an admirer of Mike Nesmith's recordings with Red Rhodes, just him on acoustic and Rhodes on Pedal Steel and I wanted to try to emulate the same effect. I think it works well.
