Acoustic guitar and painfully honest vocals, sometimes funny and sometimes bittersweet, catchy and quirky.
Jim Testa is best known as the editor of Jersey Beat fanzine but he's also a singer/songwriter. Described by The Village Voice as "catchy, quirky, and lots of fun," Jim's debut EP "Songs My Father Never Sang" was released in 2002. His songs can be laugh out loud funny or bittersweet and heartbreaking. What stands out, according to rock scribe Tris McCall, are Jim's "surprisingly honest vocals, catchy melodies, and a penchant for brilliant couplets."

Lyrics
SALLY’S GOT A NEW TATTOO Words & Music by Jim Testa Sally’s got a new tattoo, fourth one this year Piercings in her belly button, both nipples and both ears Sally’s got a new tattoo, this one is a rose Safety pin in her eyebrow, and something thru her nose When does mere decoration Turn into self-mutilation? She did it so the boys’d respect her But now she’s setting off metal detectors Sally’s got a new tattoo (4x) 2nd Verse Sally’s wearing black-rimmed glasses Even tho her eyes are fine Thrift store sweaters, ugly shoes, and she’s smoking all the time Won’t talk to her folks no more, thinks the Strokes are totally core She’s sniffin’ coke but what’s worst She’s ditching me for Conor Oberst Chorus 3rd Verse Sally’s hanging out in Williamsburg, that chick is making the scene Majoring in film at NYU, I hear she’s boffing the dean All the dudes want to lay her, got the White Stripes in her MP3 player All the blogs are in a whirl, she’s my 21st Century Emo Grrrl Chorus Won’t talk to her folks no more, says the Strokes are totally core She used to be the girl next door, then Lord how she went overboard! Chorus
