RETRO pop songs --- from another millennium and another galaxy.
My name's Pete. from Birmingham in UK-land. Nice to meet you ! I made a lot of very varied popsongs in the pre-digital age. I say they're McCartneyish, as I don't know how to categorize them. Allsorts. The description I use is RETRO I'm really a songwriter who wants others to perform these songs. So please bear that in mind as you grimace at my efforts to be acceptable. I'm especially concerned to write good lyrics, and if you do ever give some time to my stuff, I hope you will click to the lyrics and read those also. They don't come easy, you know. I'm plonking my songs here to give them a home, in the hope you might think they're not too bad. In fact, in the hope that you'll snap them up and I'll become an instant overnight megastar multi-millionaire. But failing that, I hope that you just like them. And if you do like one - I'd especially like it if you told me so. We all need strokes, eh ? Cheers ! Pete Songs-in-a-Bottle

Story behind the song
this song is from a score of years ago. .... I wonder where the word 'score' comes from....?... but I digress.....
Lyrics
life was a listless thing a bell that had lost its ring then unbelievably it seems the impossible happened to me skies of blue were dull and dreary starlight made me worn and weary moonlight merely merited the humdrum my whole world was tinged with tedium I would rate it less than medium nothing had a sparkle or a spark rainbow-stripes were lacking colour just like drying paint but duller birds of paradise were black and whiteness all my thoughts were grey and gormless every shape was flat and formless nothing there was pleasing to the eye rosy red vermilion dawnings icicles on frosty mornings failed to make my heart evince a sigh life just seemed not of my choosing unattractive, unamusing absolutely nothing in this world seemed right to me but then you kissed me, and ever after my life's been blessed with the joy of love and laughter my dislike of all things comic measured something astronomic not one single thing could set me smiling jokes were all unentertaining merely led to me migraining even hearing politicians' lies what for others seemed to be mirth didn't seem to me to be worth summoning a grin far less a guffaw it was extraordinary to see other folk make merry who knew what the fuss was all about ? everything was testing, trying totally unsatisfying couldn't see the funny side of life jokes that killed and slayed and floored'em left me with unbridled boredom what they saw in them was just a mystery to me but then you kissed me, and ever after my life's been blessed with the joy of love and laughter flowers blooming were appalling tiresome and unenthralling obdurately giving me no pleasure mighty and majestic mountains river flows and gushing fountains everything that's beautiful in life just passed me by but then you kissed me, and ever after my heart's been blessed with the joy of love and laughter oh yes, you kissed me, and ever after my life's been blessed with the joy of love and laughter
