The reflective nature of the lyric led me to write a slow-tempo song. I think this is one of the best lyrics I've had to work with. Simple yet deep and beautifully romantic. It's more of a singers' song too.
With a nod to more modern influences such as Snow Patrol, we went down the acoustic route with this one. I still feel the song could also work as a piano only number, so there may be another version of this song to come!
Lyrics
These blue eyes that look back at me
These blue eyes that see all I see
Where could I run, how could I hide
From the memories that I keep inside
I wish I could turn the clock back
So that I could start again
Then I could change the little things
So it wouldn't turn out this way
But I keep finding reminders of the times we had
Tell me why do all the good times make me feel so bad
How do I know what to change
What it is that went so wrong
I know that you don't think of me
But we still sing the same old song
I still remember you
And I wish you would come my way
But I know that if you did
There'd be no words for me to say
And now this is all over
But I'm not over this at all
Seeing how high I've been
Shows how far I've had to fall
