As the clock ticks on, will it be too late to achieve those dreams?

Story behind the song
I guess I'm influenced by Genesis again on this one, with the constantly moving chords and driving acoustic guitars. It's then very pleasing to set a rich string pad over these moving parts, especially when it drops to a lovely minor 7th chord in the chorus.
The ticking clock idea fits the lyric, but also continues my Genesis inspiration, if you notice it's in 'No Son Of Mine'.
The piano solo is more based on Massive Attack 'Unfinished Sympathy', but there are many other examples.
As for the lyric, well I've an idea what's going on here! It moves me very much.
Lyrics
Streets I know like the back of my hand
People I know blown away like sand
I’ve lost what I love but can’t lose what I hate
How long do I realise, how long do I wait
I can’t stand change but now I can’t stay
Everything seems to stand in my way
I have to go now, cos I have to grow
Sometimes I don’t see but now I know
You never understood, you had my dreams in your hands
You never knew that time was against all our plans
You never understood
I can’t help it, can’t understand why
But I’m a dreamer and sometimes dreams die
So I’m looking to find my new dreams tonight
Dreams worth believing, worthy of a fight
This town seems so hollow when you're not here
I see the real picture without your veneer
So now I can see it’s time to leave
Time to stop dreaming, time to achieve
