Story behind the song
This is rare for me, a happy song! Peter's lyric is partly inspired by U2's 'Beautiful Day' which is also an uplifting track. I wanted something musically straightforward and to the point. Something in the vein of an indie/brit-pop anthem.
I like the rising bass line in the intro, played on an organ bass pedal sample, I wanted maximum depth and some orchestral quality to the arrangement. Strings, brass...a bit like a Beatles track, or at least Oasis! The chiming guitar riff in the intro, a bit like The Edge.
I was never a fan of 90s Brit-pop bands at the time, but they were all influenced by 60s songwriters who I did like, so I guess we all arrive at the same point eventually.

Lyrics
Nobody said it was gonna be easy
But nobody said it would be this good
Nobody said it was gonna be easy
If it was would it be this good
You made me see through your eyes
Made me see beauty in stormy skies
Showed me the calm in the raging sea
Showed me that you were right for me
I guess it's true love that's blind
Because of the things I never see
I never thought of you as serious
But you know, you know what I mean
It's when I find I'm not trying to say things
That I find I've got things to say
And I realised that I loved you
When you didn't want it any other way

What's great about this song... is now a days.. so many want everything... without working for it, or realizing that sometimes things that are hard to do, or go through, only lead to great things. Straight and to the point is how I like to be, and sometimes we try or look to hard for things that are right there in front of us. Great song!
