Story behind the song
This part opens with a musical picture of an excitedly gathering crowd, who come with drums, tambourines and "all kinds of music" to welcome their hero. After the climax a baritone soloist sings a gentler section, taken up by the chorus, crescendoing to the word "truth". It ends with the usual doxology "Glory be to the Father..." (with the opening theme now in augmentation) and a riot of exultant Amens.
Lyrics
O go your way unto his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise. Be thankful unto him, and speak good of his name. For the Lord is gracious, his mercy is everlasting and his truth endureth from generation to generation. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
