Hard rock-style song; heavy and dark, portraying the frustration of always being under "indictment" from a lover;
I play all instruments and sing (weakly!)
Just me right now, recently started recording.
Story behind the song
Inspired by an argument with a very judgmental girlfriend, where being honest becomes the basis for an indictment!
Lyrics
What will the jury say?
Must I go, or can I stay?
Did the best I could
Taking more than anyone should
When it hit the fan
And we played our hidden hand
Black and blue we stood
Saying more than lovers should.
In the land of make believe the greatest art is self-deceive
My intent you did mis-read
So to the charges I must plead NOT GUILTY!
You said you wanted honesty
So to the charges I repeat NOT GUILTY!
When the words retreat
Leaving empty incomplete
Bearing like a curse
Echos of the hurtful verse
On the trail of hurt and wrong, each has laid their urgent song
I can’t deny the things I see
So to the charges I must plead NOT GUILTY!
Although I use it sparingly
I’m still allowed to disagree NOT GUILTY!
You find the things you want to see
Ignore the rest conveniently! NOT GUILTY!
What will the verdict be?
Revenge or clarity?
How simple it could be
If we remember how to see!
On the field of hurt and pain, blaming is the loser’s game
You said you valued honesty
So to the charges I must be NOT GUILTY!
You’re hearing me selectively
So to the charges I repeat NOT GUILTY!
Did I commit a felony?
Is this where I beg for leniency?
How hard could it be
To live our lives in harmony?
