Come my sweet Emma (Matt Yearbook)
Co-write with Matt Yearbook of New Zealand about trying to help someone through a hard time.
I'm easily inspired either by personal experiences, things said in conversation, being given a challenge, or being moved or amused by something. Many genres.
Story behind the song
Co-write with Matt Yearbook of New Zealand about trying to help someone through a hard time.
Always loved Matt's songs and vocals, so was pleased he liked my lyrics enough to do this co-write, which is one of my own favorite collaborations.
The song's on a charity album "Kidz like Danny 5 " for autistic children. Especially if you have an autistic child, or know one, please look up "Kids like Danny 5" on Facebook.

“Come My Sweet Emma” is a pitch-perfect ballad, with Matt Yearbook’s style recalling Tobias Jesso Jr.’s clever work. Kept to the essentials the piece evolves ever so gradually. So warm in soft the song’s length works in its favor as its gradual increase in intensity feels earned.
Lyrics
I know your heart is breaking,
How can I help you ride the pain
Is it cause you failed
At making happiness come back to life again
Where did your spirit fly to,
Why do you lie paralyzed
When did you lose your laughter,
Maybe it was after your demise.
Chorus
Come, my sweet Emma,
I will make you smile, let me show you the way,
Lay your head by mine, I beg you nothing more,
I hope you know by now that
Emma, if you want me I will stay, I will stay, I will stay, I will stay.
It’s a sad old situation,
The memories still make you cry,
Maybe aIl you’ve learned from all of this
Is some things live to die.
Cast your eyes towards the mirror girl,
I hope you see just what I’m seeing now,
One sweet lady torn apart,
And I will try to find a way to make you smile,
I will try to find a way to make you smile somehow.
