This is the original version. In the 1980's I walked into a pub called Sidewinders and they were having a bull ridin contest for women. I sat at the bar and asked the bartender for a pen and so the song was born.

Story behind the song
The song won the Ottawa City Song Contest. However, according to one of the judges Harvey Glatt of Chez F.M. radio in Ottawa the song contest was fixed and they gave the winning title to the second prize winner because he said "she was better known" and he personally apologized and said he was against the fixing. The mayor Greenberg himself and family came to the Raceway Tavern where I was playing and bought some 45's. I would like to have this wrong rectified if I can.
Lyrics
King Of The Ottawa City Cowboys Words & Music Paul Henry Dallaire Paul Henry Pub. SOCAN I'm the king of the Ottawa City Cowboys I ride the electric bull My horse is parked at a metered stall And thrives on Texaxo fuel I play my guitar my harp beat my drum Even moan you a sad country tune And I sing for all the ladies At the Raceway Tavern Saloon All day I work for the man on the hill In a three piece suit and a tie But tonight I'm goin to change all of this Climb into my M.G. and ride I've mastered all the new country disco techniques In a way that you've never seen By day I work by night I play In my sexy skin tight blue jeans I toast y'a'll concrete city cowboys The hard workin beer drinkin kind May the landlord give you a credit For what you drink here you do leave behind And to all you gals at the barstools Don't pay that ol cowboy no mind For when a cowboy is sad it's not half as bad He'll do a computer game one more time (At the time I was doing a one man show playing my guitar a bass drum and an harmonica)
