Nothing Better (melody only)
You can have everything in the world, but nothing that you have compares to the love of Jesus Christ. Unfinished.
I'm really just a lyricist who is looking to team up with a great composer to create songs that glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Story behind the song
I wrote this while living in southern California--materialism capital of the US. It was supposed to come out more modern-rock sounding than it actually does; guess it's not really made for my voice.
Lyrics
I’ve tried it all—drugs and alcohol
Crystals and mirrors on my walls
Wishing on the stars, expensive self-help seminars
But I still feel the scars
I’ve bought it all—tight skirts at the mall
Cute cell phone my friends can call
Red sports car, golden eggs from some old czar
I thought I’d come so far, but
Chorus:
Nothing fills me like you
No one forgives me like you
Though I may search to the ends of the earth
I would find nothing better
Nothing better than you
I’ve been searching, for some easy fun
Something new under the sun
Something great I could know, someone warm I could hold
I’m squashed in this world’s mold
I’ve been waiting, for a friend to help me up
For a family to love
My eyes could see the light, my heart could be made right
But the doors seem shut so tight
Chorus
Bridge:
I’ve seen some things, heard some things, done some things
But it means nothing
Spent my money, spent my time, spent my life
And all for nothing
What am I but what you made me
Maybe now, maybe I’m ready
To be filled with something real
Chorus
