Story behind the song
This song was primarily made during the first few days of school -- that is, when I had fractions of an hour to put music together every week after all of my back-to-school-just-to-piss-you-the-hell-off papers and stacks of homework were taken care of. Transitioning into a high school mindset after summer is always tough, but this one seemed to hit me hardest. This, among many other things, made me generate a lot of negativity toward our educational system. I was spending countless hours on what I considered to be incredibly useless rabble when I wanted to get to the drum kits and put some decent stuff together. When I started this song out, it was originally going to be nothing more than a showcase of knob tweaks and controllers that I'd just learned, in addition to something I could mix with songs in my setlist, and was originally going to be called "DJ's Playground." Over time, however, my emotions at the time started to seep into the music. I took a step back and noticed moments of heavy distortion and percussive articulations against relaxing chords and soft articulations. I found this to be easily compared to my feelings toward school -- stress-inducing work clashing against my desire to relax and put some music together. My feelings of negativity have lessened since school started, but I found it interesting to see this rare case of a happy accident. I personally love the track, and I hope you guys do, too. I might feature during a live show of mine in the future.
