Heretic is a pro-Pagan/Wiccan rock band whose music hearkens back to the glory days of '68-'79 when rock musicians were free to experiment with different musica
I've got some new equipment, yall!! ...And I'm expecting more later this year (I plan to buy the Roland VG-99 when it becomes available, then a real Gibson Les Paul, hopefully, a Custom). Still, though, my band is right now basically just me, a male singer who drops by occaisionally (Jason Perch),a Fender Player's Deluxe Strat, a Roland GR20 and a Digitech GNX 3000. I use a TASCAM FW-1082 as an Audio/Midi interface and control surface for the heart of my studio, the DAW SONAR 6 Producer Edition, on my new computer, assembled by Dell, a quadcore QX6700 with dual nVidia Series 8800 GTX's and 4 gigs of RAM. I use this badass system for all my comosing and lyric writing, and a few vocals. I mix a little classic rock, traditional music from the british isles (I'm a Renassaince Festival frequenter), and heavy metal. Everything I write, even if it has bells and tin whistles in it, has a definite edge. The sound I'm going for is something all at once dark and heavy, but also with a light feminine touch.

Story behind the song
A taste of what is coming: this is from scene III of a Rock Opera I am currently working on. It occurs in a mental hospital, as Our Protagonist is being told by another patient about the doctor in charge of their treatment (and by extension, their release).
Lyrics
Doctor Depakote An Observation By Courtney Parsons From Act III, Scene I of the Rock Opera "Cognitive Dissonance" Verse I Hey there, good people, do you got the time To check out a song I wrote? ‘Bout a brother-we all know and love him- He’s a doctor, don’t-cha know, oh? Verse II See him struttin’ the hospital just like He’s got the whole world by the throat; Cuz he knows he’s the Man with the Plan We call him Doctor Depakote Verse III & IV (Head Orderly): Ain’t no smokin’, Ain’t no jokin’, Ain’t no dopin’, Ain’t no foolin ‘round up in here Do ya think this is a honky-tonk, Do it look like I’m servin’ beer? I know you think this is the place you can come To sleep off your latest Cocaine binge- But this ain’t no homeless shelter And it sure ain't no Red Roof Inn Chorus I (Narrator): Doctor, Doctor, I know what I am to you, yeah I’m just a low-down street kid with the low down dirty blues But I don’t even need to see your Prescription pad To know, oh "Two hundred milligrams, four times a day… Of Depakote" Verse IV Don't you know that he cares for people, He don't need a fancy car to drive; He don't need no big old paycheck, Or a fancy house an' all that jive Chorus II Doctor, Doctor, I know what I am to you, yeah I'm just a drugged-out street girl with the low-down dirty blues; It's always the same prescription- no matter what you diagnose; Two hundred milligrams four times a day... Of Depakote Bridge: If I ever get outta here, I know where I'm gonna go; If I ever get outta here, I'm goin' to go Back down To Mexico Way... Verse V Don't you know he's a man of conscience And impeccable morality That's completely unassailable (When it applies to you or me) Chorus III Your prime directive is to lock away the likes of me, yeah To contain a nuisance to your respectable society Don't you know it's so damn hard to have The energy to provoke When you find yourself under the care of, Doctor Depakote... Yeah, Doctor Depakote He's got the way and the means to Crush all your dreams Cuz he's so terrified that Someone might get high, Cuz he's the doctor
