I'm a musician from Liverpool, England and have been playing guitar since I was 16, playing live since 18. I've traditionally concentrated on live work but recently started to develop an interest in computer recording. I still try to keep as much of a live feel as possible with my music, trying to record songs in such a way that the recordings and live versions sound as similar as possible.

Story behind the song
The story is that there's really no story. When I wrote it I was kind of rebelling against the idea of rock songs with messages, so I deliberately wanted to write a song that was just a bit of fun and about nothing at all. I've lost count of the number of times I've been approached by people saying "I like it but what's it about?", so I'd tell a different story to each different person. The same idea was later used by The Joker in The Dark Knight when he'd tell different people different stories for how he got his 'smile'. But I did it first ;-) The only thing that stayed consistent is where the title came from. My then bassist was over one evening to watch "Dark City" (not that that's relevant) and couldn't decide which fast food he was in the mood for - a Big Mac, Burger King or Kentucky Fried Chicken. I suggested one of each, a Big King Chicken. Later that night after a few too many beers we couldn't stop laughing at the suggestion so the next day I wrote the deliberately meaningless "Big King Chicken" :)

Thanks for clearing up the origin of this one. Apparently I seized upon the most popular reaction. Your explanation reminds me of two things. Paul Simon's song Mother and Child Reunion had a similar inspiration. http://www.snopes.com/music/songs/mother.htm In the book Dave Barry Does Japan, the author describes how English is often misused in odd ways in that country.
