Quote My Ghost is a one man project that has no particular sound, category, or genre that it can be easily associated with. Songs are recorded on no particular time table. They come as they come and they are often recorded in a hurry in order to get the essence of emotion preserved. The songs are often raw, unrefined, bitter, and unashamedly honest. They cover topics such as alcoholism. The devastation of divorce. The death of a friend and a family member. Childhood abuse. Relationships are questioned. Dreams and nightmares are talked about, and emotions are drawn out line by line. Whatever type of life you may lead, there is something inside each and every one of us that feels the sting of life. Whether we are willing to accept it or not, we all have that part of us that we try to keep hidden. There is a song here for you.

Story behind the song
The woman talking left a long and distressed voicemail about her husband. Apparently he stopped taking his medication and was acting like a jerk. I was so mad at him for what he did to her that I wrote this song. The only thing that really came to mind was the line I sing over and over again. From a technical standpoint, this song was tough. The drums that I used (there are two layered drum tracks) were out of sync by a millisecond, but by the time a minute or two elapsed, it sounded horrible. I had to go in and edit the drum tracks by blowing up the tracks as far as they would go, snapping them to grid and then trimming them. For anyone who has worked in Pro Tools before you're probably thinking, so what? But for me it was the first time I had done it. Also, it was the first time I had recored the guitar part once and then cut and pasted parts. I guess you can say that this song was a milestone for me due to the editing process. It was an education to say the least.
