A place where all the bad teachers go. Are they banished or is it a loafer's paradise?
OK dammit, it's supposed to be art!
Armadillo1 is not a real band
Story behind the song
A friend of mine told me about a room in the NYC school system where they put teachers who have "issues" Basically they can sit there for years collecting a full salary without teaching any classes. Anyway, he asked me to write a song about it and gave me some details and this is what came out.
Lyrics
You think you're gonna get away from it all
Then you discover they put you in the Rubber Room
We all know we're heading straight for a fall
It's like no other, we're in the Rubber Room
We could go crazy
You tell your story at the Chancellor's Ball
He walks away so aloof, you're in the Rubber Room
Some little punk gives you a shove in the hall
You call him over and poof!, you're in the Rubber Room
You could go crazy
Kids misbehavin'
Jonesy's stark ravin'
Raquim's a marijuana maven
He's barely shavin'
One of you colleagues takes a hit from a bong
He's on another trip, he's in the Rubber Room
He says it's alright but you know it's all wrong
Don't you give him no lip, he's in the Rubber Room
He could go crazy
Smith seems deflated, Jones seems frustrated,
He says, "Social Promotion's overrated",
And then he fainted
Frustration gets you every day
You can't say "fuck it" 'cause you still need the pay
I just gotta make it 'til retirement day
It's the only way you'll be free
Can't wait to get away from it all
I think I'll take a trip up to the Rubber Room
If someone wants me tell 'em give me a call
Don't let it slip, I'm in the Rubber Room
I could go crazy ,yeah yeah, I'm in the Rubber Room
You can get lazy, yeah yeah, You're in the Rubber Room
You can could go crazy, yeah, yeah, You're in the Rubber Room
Yeah, yeah, you're in the Rubber Room.................................
