Story behind the song
Our neighbors lost their son to a drug overdose. He was a Christian man but he had gotten into something that he couldn't get away from. About a week after he died the thought came into my mind that he had spent a week in Heaven. I felt like there was a song in it but it never came out until a few months later when I was talking to a friend of mine from work who had just lost his dad, who was also a Christian. The combination of these two events are what God used to inspire this song. I hope it is an encouragement to all who have dear ones in Heaven.
Lyrics
Your First Week In Heaven First Verse After your first week in Heaven, how are you doin' I'll bet you're gettin' to know your way around After your first week in Heaven, what has it been like I'll bet you're flyin' so high you can hardly touch the ground Chorus I've missed you so, it's been almost More than I could take But there's comfort when I know you're in A far, far better Place After your first week, your first week in Heaven Second Verse After your first week in Heaven, what have you seen there Is it all that you'd expected or much more After your first week in Heaven, I wish you could tell me About the first time you saw Jesus, and He held you in His Arms Repeat Chorus Bridge For me time has passed slowly, but there will come a day When the Lord is ready to call me too Again I'll see your face, again I will see your face Repeat Chorus
