From the depths of America’s finest city, two artists emerge with determination, skill, and pure talent to bring a new innovative sound to the face of Hip Hop. The two combine to form Akaliko, a unique band of microphone bandits and beat composers. Akaliko has been developing their skill for the last few years in the San Diego area. Ja, am I in? (Jamin Barnes) hails from Sacramento where he’s been honing his lyrical creativity for the last decade. Humble Idea (James Roit) has been developing his musical gift since youth in the suburbs of Chicago. Their musical talent continues to grow and knows no boundaries. The group has independently released a full length LP “Unconditioned to Time and Season”, which was well received by the underground communities of both southern and northern California. They are currently working on a new project “Da Tighty Whiteys”, and are more than nine songs deep. Akaliko continues to do shows not just locally, but in different states and countries. The group had the unique opportunity to do the first live Hip Hop performance in Darwin, Australia. For more information on the group go to www.akalikomusic.com. Akaliko is determined to challenge the status quo. They would rather be leaders than followers. The following contains a small sample of their talent. I guarantee you will hear more from them in years to come.

Lyrics
Friday Night: chorus: Forget that job man The stress has took it's toll It's friday night Grab your homies and let's roll Toast up the beer dude Or pack and pass that bowl It's time to let the rhythm groove To sooth and move the soul Ja, am I in?: There ain't no hassle Raise up Sierra Nevadas and New Castle Dude in a sombraro blew his whislte I said, "You asshole" Didn't want to take another shot of Josè Cuervo Find me parlayin' my spots I'm sippin' J. Walker Black Label I'm from killa Cali where San Andreas is unstable And Hemp Clan was the crew that smoked your ass under the table You try to step to this shit here you're just no able This shit don't stop from Sac town to San Diego I gots more flow than meltin' snow Never need no drano And west coast chronic hella potent Rankin' numero uno Plus our beats hit harder than two fat collidin' sumos I take shroom trips We rip through mountains in Lake Tahoe I'm on some peace shit like hippies in Berkley and San Francisco But step to this shit here You get your ass rolled up and smoked just like a primo We rip it to any instrumental and it's just that simple (chorus) Humble Idea: Step in the limelight We runnin' the night within our own mind Gettin' our club on Drinkin' beyond our body until we feel right No hassle Excuse me bartender. Can I get a New Castle please? Sure buddy that'll be seven fifty. What are you kidding me?! Makin' my way to the dance floor with a Bud Light in my hand Arms raised over my head Squeezin' through all the sweaty bodies Five minutes pass I feel like I'm in the same spot I got half a beer on my shirt and the other half I don't got anymore It's on the floor or somewhere between here and the bar Or maybe I'm just too faded to realize where the hell we are My stomach rumblin' Stumblin' walk Fumblin' fingers for cash To buy another beer that may be this time will last At last I can drink in peace with all my homies in the back of the club loungin' It's astoundin' I couldn't ask for a better set of friends I can't believe I found them That's what it really all comes down to Reevaluate the club scene and how it all involves you (chorus)
