Story behind the song
I wrote a song back in '84 that was never really that good. But today, I heard voices & fixed it.
Lyrics
Made in the Shade Copyright 1984 by Kevin Miller Verse 1 He was everything to you, I think I know just how you feel. What on earth can I do, To make you see that Im for real? I know you been hurt before, But I aint the same old type of guy. Who said he loved you, true and blue Then he said goodbye. Chorus: We got it made, In the shade. Well be holding hands on the front porch swing all day. Come take my hand perty little girl, Dont you be afraid We got it made, In the shade. Verse 2 Why dont you come to my house, And well take a little stroll If you tell me your secrets, I wont tell a soul. Toss a penny in the river, Your wildest dreams come true. Peck on the cheek for me, And a big ol smile for you. Chorus Verse 3 Im gonna build a cabin, way up on the hill, You can grow some flowers, And Ill work at the mill. And Ill buy you a pony, soon as I get paid We got it made, In the Shade.

Love it kev! This is one happy little tune that has a nice undercurrent of honesty and innocence. I like your writing style..your meter and your rhymes. Your phrasing flows so well. I'd like to see ya add just a tad bit more volume to that mando solo so it'd jump out at this ol' deaf guy but it's probably just my issue. Good singin' and an all around quality tune. Dowloadin' to the Kevin File! Thanks!

Kevin, You made my wife cry this time. Have you ever made music under a horse apple tree with a bunch of drunks? Wooly

I just love bluegrass. Almost my entire family plays bluegrass. I think I am the only one that ventures out to every genre... but I have a deep respect for it. Thanks for reminding me of home and sharing a beautiful song! Oh harmony is great! :) JOLEE

That's a well written, fun, happy song, Kevin. Beautifully sung, great harmonies and well played. Like Ian, it put a smile on my dial!! And the fun and enthusiasm comes through in your performance - not always an easy thing to do. Another winner. - John

Your new song right away put a smile on my face. Upbeat, and just fun to listen to. Like all your songs this one is well made, with good vocals and lyrics. Thanks for sharing. Your fellow Washingtonian -Ian That photo of you looks like it was taken somewhere on the east side of the North Cascades? Maybe near Mt. Stewart? I am looking forward to hiking this summer.
