Story behind the song
THE STORY: We go to a grocery store or to the park and they?re there. They?re everywhere! Old folks buying their meager fare or feeding the pigeons or whatever. They have a forlorn look, or no look at all. You look their way and smile and they light up like someone flipped a switch. They were just waiting for someone to notice or acknowledge that they?re not alone, completely. You?ve seen that, I?m sure!!! There are so many people like that. They lost their loved ones, are ignored by them or never really had any. Some have faced it alone their whole life. Give them a smile,. It doesn?t cost anything. The line ?Sittin? on a porch swing waitin? for a smile? Came to me almost 20 years ago. 4 weeks ago leaving a Diamondbacks game the rest started to pop in. The next day lyrics and music came quickly. I hope the song portrays the importance
