Story behind the song
Most of us heard (in Sunday school) that Jesus told his disciples, "With men things can be impossible but with God all things are possible." I realized 40 years later I still didn't believe these words. So I wrote this song hoping the performing of it would help me, and others, in this area.
Lyrics
(v1) I've got a new friend. His name is Impossible. I admit, he scared me at first. He used to talk me out of God's best, And so I would settle for something worse. But now I love to hear him speak 'cause he no longer rules my mind. When Impossible comes preaching, God is close behind. (c1) Make Impossible a friend. He's not that big and mean. He's just been trained in the ways of the world, but he's not as tough as he seems. Make Impossible a friend. When he speaks, don't lose your nerve. His voice should just be a reminder of which God you serve. (v2) What started the friendship forming Was when I learned that he is a liar. After that, whenever he'd speak, My walk with God would climb even higher. And now I see the benefit to all his noise... When Impossible comes preaching, he separates the men from the boys.
