Story behind the song
I do try to preach through the songs. I am concerned that Christianity is not having more of an impact on our society. The saying goes that the job of a preacher is to "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable". This song belongs in the latter category. As an added note, I have become even more convicted about the state of the Christian Church in America after reading K. P. Yohannan's book "Revolution in World Missions". I highly recommend the book and the organization he heads up "Gospel For Asia". Please visit their website at www.gfa.org and pray about what the Lord would have you do to meaningfully help spread the Gospel. Mike
Lyrics
When Are We Gonna Start Livin' It? First Verse Here we sit upon our padded pews The air conditioner keeps us cool The preacher talks about the Love of Jesus How we're the salt, the light and this world needs us We nod our head, sometimes we say amen And that's about as far as it will get If we believe it, when are we gonna start livin' it? Chorus When are we gonna start livin' it? Get in the trenches like Jesus did Say what we mean, mean what we say Go to the limit for the Savior’s sake When are we gonna start pitchin' in? Do what we can to bring the harvest in If we believe it, when are we gonna start livin' it? Second Verse We say that we are followers of Jesus I often wonder if the world believes us It seems we're only after selfish gain We'll only sacrifice if there's no pain But if we're ever gonna hear well done We've got a fight to win, a race to run If we believe it, when are we gonna start livin' it? Repeat Chorus
