Story behind the song
I didn't write this song but arranged it.
Interesting story about when we recorded it, however. My boss came in to church one day and said, "I'd like us to use this song I used to use when I was in Memphis..." or something to that efffect, he didn't have music, so he played it into my synth, which I saved and later transcribed.
Somewhere in this equation, I got the impression that he wrote this Sanctus, and so gave it extra special treatment and hyped it as "His" Sanctus.
So, we needed one more tune for the CD. I decided we would record this, as it is something we use a lot at the church, and I'm kinda fond of it.
So when I went into his office to tell him we were recording "his" sanctus, he informed me that, no, in fact he did NOT write it... it was something he had heard at a church in Alabama in the mid 80's.
Believe it or not, we found the church, emailed them a midi file of my arrangement of the song and they were able to identify it so we could get the proper copyright clearance to record it! ...after all those years!!
