Lyrics by: Howard C. Holbert
Music Composed and Performed by: Gil
Howard sent me these lyrics a couple of days ago
(after hearing my song Bailout Blues)and then
this morning I opened my newspaper to see a front page story
about a Tent City.
neilyounggil
There is a Tent City
goin up in my town
Where every other neighbor
can be found
No more flat screen tv's
or video games
Policeman there
Takin' everybody's name
Smell the soup cookin'
from an old coffee can
an American flag wavin'
above an old man
I never thought these times
were just ahead
So many homeless
No place to lay their head
See the Tent Cities
Springin' up all around
Doesnt seem to matter where you go
In the big cities
Or in the small towns
Might even be someone there you know
Might even be someone there you know
Bailouts for bankers
and the corporate elite
no bailouts for you
no bailouts for me
I've seen the young
and I've seen the old
trying to stay warm
against the winters' cold
They're not bums
or lazy losers
not druggies
Not even boozers
just yesterday he had a job
And a home
Now he's got a tent and he's all alone
See the Tent Cities
Springin' up all around
Doesn't really matter
where you go
In the big cities
Or in the small towns
Might even be someone there you know
Might even be someone there you know
Pertinent much needed slice of today - if the so called 'socially aware stars'' don't care enough to sing out then it's good that others do. Full credit to you. Good words can translate to anywhere in the world.
