Kind of cheesy, but this is the song I wrote/sung to propose to my fiancee.
acoustic
I'm just a young guy starting out on his own and having some fun. A lot of this stuff is just demos right now...trial and error stuff. Check back for updates. Feedback is always welcome.
Story behind the song
Rachel always teased me for not ever serenading her. I don't really like serenading. I always feel like the guy on the movie Animal House who sings "I gave my love a cherry" on the stairs to a bunch of girls. Cheesy, cheesy. So, when I proposed, I told her 'I owe you a serenade' and broke into this. There's more to the story, but this'll do for now.
Lyrics
You always say in your own way
Don't you make a promise you're not willing to keep,
But baby I promise to love you seven days a week
And when we're old and my story's been told
I'll want to hold you in my arms to keep you from this bitter cold
And if by then we're just nutty, fuddy-duddies I'll still love you so
Oh, Rachel please, won't you marry me
Cause I want you in my life, want you as my wife, you're all I need
I ain't got a lot of money, honey, but my lovin's free
...ain't got a lot of money, honey, but my lovin's free
