42 is a song about probably a lot of things. It's the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. This question, should you need to know it, is revealed in "Restaurant at the End of the Universe" by Douglas Adams.

Story behind the song
I don't know if this song is really about psychology or not. If the listener thinks it is, then of course it is. At the time of writing this, i had been interviewed about my past for a psychological essay, so maybe that had something to do with it. The room i wrote this in, and recorded it in (on the laptop, quickly) were the same room in which i was interviewed.
Lyrics
First tell me all the reasons why you're here and you're not somewhere else Then write down all the reasons why you're you and you're not someone else You are a product of your long lost past How long do you think these concepts might last? And while i'm waiting tell me something else Something worthwhile, something about yourself Life is short, what's it all about? There's no time to figure it all out Have you made up your mind about the things that you are made up of? Are you made up of happiness and tenderness and life and love Or is this all a fleeting illusion? Now tell me what is this confusion?
