A fun, bouncy romp about missed opportunities.
acoustic folk country lai
Lyricist on an endless quest for the perfect melody.
I'm afraid I can't claim to be a band, although I have been known to jump on a bandwagon from time to time. No, I'm just a humble lyricist who is in absolute awe of the composers who have stumbled into my life and bothered to wrap a melody around some of my words. I've been attempting to legitimately call myself a lyricist since I was about 14 years old. Have a listen, won't you, and let me know if I qualify.

Story behind the song
No story, really. The muse said, "Hey, write something." This is what came out.
Lyrics
When Love Comes Knocking © 2009 Greg C. Brown and Alan D. David I have always heard that love is blind, But I never really knew just what that meant. All I know is I was left behind I never could seem to take a hint. Little Suzy Q from down the street, She had a crush on me in grammar school. Cute as a button and twice as sweet, But I was busy trying to be Mr. Cool. CHORUS When love comes knocking You better get the door. It might not be stopping by Anymore. If the moment passes Like a shooting star, It could leave you stranded Right where you are. I’ve been told at least a thousand times before, When love comes knocking…you better get the door. Back in senior high I blew the chance To go steady with the homecoming queen. I got kinda shy ‘cause I couldn’t dance; I blew it with the girl of my dreams. REPEAT CHORUS (really cool instrumental break) I finally saw the light and I got betrothed, Made it to the church where they threw some rice. I’m passing on this wisdom that I’ve been told; Take it from me brother, this is good advice. REPEAT CHORUS When love comes knocking…you better get the door!
