A song about heaven - My Grandmother Minnie Christensen's poem I put to music
Story behind the song
My grandma Minnie wrote the poem after the death of my grandpa Roland. It's a thought provoking, hopeful view of what awaits us after death.
Lyrics
Forever Spring Time
Will heaven be forever spring time with its burst of green leaves and grass?
The early pageant of flowers, trees in bloom, against the blue skies with puffy clouds,
Jostled about by March breezes.
Will heaven be filled with sounds of birds calling their mates?
And bees being choosy about which flowers have the sweetest nectar, sweetest nectar.
Will heaven have this same aroma of freshness after the rain?
And happy voices of children playing in puddles reflecting rainbows, reflecting rainbows.
Will heaven have a garden pathway where we can be together?
Hand in hand to stroll with you and enjoy this pleasant weather,
Where we might stop to chat with friends and neighbors.
If not Lord then I just want to thank you for now.
This earthly gift of spring time, beautiful and rich with sunshine,
Clouds wind and rain, the sights and sounds of spring time and someone to share it with again –
And someone to share it with again again
