Story behind the song
We had been using "It Is Well With My Soul" for two years to end our communion service and it was time for a change. However, "It Is Well" had become a Sacred Cow... so changing would be difficult. So I wrote this one following the emotional blueprint of "It Is Well". This song was recorded originally by Marsha Stevens and the BALM ministry team spring 2003 on their new release, "Songs Of Praise From a Strange Land." We originally laid this song down as a piano and vocal ditty. However, it was the first song we sang vocally in the studio and it wasn't a wow... in fact, I hated it. So we redid it... and I LOVE IT!! Thanks for the help, Mike and Darren! ...and always a pleasure to hear you sing, Kim! You ROCKED this one OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!!
Lyrics
We have tasted the bread of life. We have drunk from the cup of our salvation now we offer praise to You, God on high. In the challenge of our daily lives, may we recall this moment and remember Your grace freely given. Chorus: Holy Jesus, thank You for Your sacrifice of love. May we be ever faithful in Your sight. We go now as disciples showing to the world the faith and hope and love within Your light. Forgiven we stand together, one in Christ.
