Story behind the song
This song was written by Jeff Anderson just after 9/11 as a way of trying to look to the future with a positive attitude in the face of such a horrible tragedy.
Lyrics
Set your watches back, 'cause summer's almost over. No time for sad goodbyes because we're still together. And if the cupboard is bare We'll still have love to share And on the darkest of days There's optimism in the air. (chorus) HELLO! Greet the sun and be happy There's so much love left to live for Electric orange is rising. STEP UP! Brace yourself it's a new day. There's so much life left worth living Electric Orange is rising... HELLO! We're at the center of a transformational time A time for consciousness, a time that's your's and mine. A time for lemons and limes For tangerines and blue skies So pull yourself together and Let's take a walk outside. Repeat Chorus Another Saturday, and the wind is hot But don't you bring the curtains down. It's mid September, in the fall sunshine It's time to grab your books again. (hoedown guitar solo) And if the cupboard is bare We'll still have love to share And on the darkest of days There's optimism in the air... Repeat chorus
