Artist picture
Lake Fork Verne and his banjo. Original country and Americana songs. Songs of yesteryear, growing up during the great depression 1930's and the way things are
Just me and my banjo...writing and singing about how things used to be long ago in the 30;s and 40's and how those experiences affect today. I started out wanting to get on record these stories and songs for my grandchildren; but after doing it for a while, others have expresses interest so we are recording and putting them out there.

Under The Bridge Copyright by: Verne Garrison January 29, 2009 Banjo Tuned E,Capo 1, Key of C Moderate tempo Under The Bridge C F C Some of my best days as a lad (growin up) G7 Were spent beneath the old wooden bridge C F Our fishing hole in Lake Fork creek C G7 C Hidden by weeds and willows around the edge F C I can still hear the sounds, "clappity-clack" G7 As the cars passed over the old wooden boards C F Then it would be quiet as time ran slack C G7 C And we'd watch our bobbers swirl in the little ford F C You could hear the far away shouts and noises G7 As farm hands with their tractors did their work C F We would put another grasshopper or worm on the hook C G7 C Or add a catfish or a bream to the rope stringer Chorus 1: C F C Those hot days of summer were our gift, our sigh G7 We spent them in the cool shade of the bridge C F Watching white puffy clouds in blue, blue sky C G7 C Short walk to Ma's house and our fish fry I can still hear the sounds, "clappity-clack" As the cars passed over the old wooden boards Then it would be quiet for a while as time ran slack And we would watch our bobbers swirl in the little ford Chorus 2: C F C That bridge today, has a name G7 It has a sign on it, The Garrison Bridge C F The land it sits on, name is the same C G7 C It replaced the old wooden one, I knew as a kid

I love the stories!! You said the bridge has a sign that say's 'Garrison Bridge' and I assume this was after YOUR family??? The sounds of the clackity clack of the bridge put your song to life! It would be great to find a recording of that sound and add it to the beginning and end of the song as a fade in and out sorta thing. I really enjoy you and your style!!! Hope Spring is coming your way! Love, Rosie
