God's Word presented in song and verse.
in those quiet times spent alone with Him and in His Word. After nine years composing, arranging and recording... The Alpha & Omega Suite was finished at the end of 2008 and is ready for distribution in 2009! The Suite consists of thirty five parts which span two hours and forty minutes. This inspired music praises God and His Word; introduces His laws; His doctrines; His decrees; His covenants; and His grace to those who may never be exposed to His written Word otherwise. Story behind the song
When feeling down, there's few things which can lift our spirit like melodic music with poetic lyrics! If we combine music with spiritual inspiration and God's truths then we are treated to an even greater lift-me-up... for we are able to have our spirit elevated right into the throneroom of God Himself! To the sceptic no such 'lyrical work-of-art' exists. But to the rest of us, we are blessed with the easy-to-find Psalms... located right in the center of God's revealed Word, the Bible! 'Psalms' is a Greek word meaning, "music played on stringed instruments" and refers to the ancient Hebrew 'Tehillim' which is "hymns of praise and worship". The Psalms are a collection of songs, authored by a variety of people spanning many hundreds of years and penned under a myriad of conditions. They deal with human emotions, feelings, strengths, weaknesses, sinful cravings, lows, highs, ups and downs. In them, the whole range of human experiences is expressed. They reveal a variety of aspects about the nature of God; how He feels about man; what He expects of us; His chastisement of us; how we can fellowship with and derive strength from Him; and most importantly, how we can sufficiently give Him praise and worship! Many of the Psalms are heartfelt prayers, lifted up to the ear of God. Others are prophetic portraits which accurately reveal God's promised Messiah. Most, if not all, of the Psalms were originally sung to music. Unfortunately there is little of this music which has been passed along to our times. Nevertheless, the main strength is in the 'God-breathed' words, which are able to stand on their own apart from the music or conditions in which they were written! Every generation on every continent has been blessed by the strong, spiritual richness of the Psalms! They represent communication between common man and Holy God at it's most basic... but dynamically enriching. The 'Psalmist's Sonata' is not only a song about the Psalms but actually is a tributary extension to the Psalms. It elevates with a poet's ferver the strengths, majesty and dynamics found within the collection of Psalms. It's power builds through two verses and a chorus until culminating into one of the most beautiful and powerful Psalms ever written... Psalm 23, "the Lord is my shepherd." The perfect words expressed by king David fill the third verse and final chorus, thus blending-in and verifying what the Sonata has been saying all along... "sing praise to Emmanuel." The Psalmist proclaims, "Praise the LORD with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise Him with the strings and flute, praise Him with the clash of cymbals, praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD." (Psalm 150) The Psalmist's Sonata concludes the first part of the Alpha & Omega Suite. It dynamically finishes the Alpha so the fulfillment of the Omega can begin! Groundwork has been laid and the foundation has been poured... the prophesies which God so splendedly set forth will reach their fulfillment in His Messiah, accompanied by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit! Sing praise to the Lord!
Lyrics
(Verse One) I crave your word every time it's heard. And you understand this inner desire. When I hear it read my soul get's fed. Your Psalms set my heart on fire! When my hope sinks low in deep despair and I feel that I just might perish. The Psalmists tears are what I hear. So sweet, my heart does cherish! Your hymns are a melody with matching harmony. They sing praise to the Father, the Son and Holy One. The Psalmists brings their Lullaby which fills the air just like a Holiday! (Verse Two) When dense fog covers the road I'm on and my feet begin to stray. I remember your word and it comforts well. It guides and it lights the way! Those hazy mists still cloud our view. Making the false seem to appear like the truth. The Psalmists songs expose deceit with a focus that frees and sooths! Your hymns elevate as they gently resonate. Brightening the midnight hour as they illuminate. Glancing over the land at your handiwork, My spirit rises skyward, ever higher and higher! (Chorus) Reflection... Meditation! A time to spend alone with You, my Lord. Communion... Inspiration! I love to deeply delve in the study of Your Word. Painted with a palette of spiritual hues. Revealing God's poetry of truths. A cornucopia filled with meaningful sonnets. Reflect a vast smorgasbord of You. You've exalted above all things.... Your name and Your Word. You've exalted above all things.... Your name and Your Word. (Verse Three) (Psalm 23) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside still waters. He guideth and restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his Holy name's sake. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil. For Thou art with me; Thy rod and Tshy staff they comfort me, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies! Anoint my head with oil. (Chorus) (Psalm 23 Continued) My cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me. All the days of my life! I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. So is declared with majestic splendor. Rejoice my soul, I give Thee praise. Worship and peace in the Psalmist's Sonata. Sung forth with all our voices raised! Voices raised. Give praise to Emmanuel. Voices raised. Give praise to Emmanuel. Voices raised. Give praise to Emmanuel.
