When I was a few years younger, my mom had me listen to a spoken word verse by John Denver called The Box. It was essentially a war protest poem. It really spoke to me. A few laters, I started making hip hop, and comming from a purely techno past, I could not grasp the concept of "organic basslines". Then I came to an epiphany while listening to RJD2's Shot In The Dark. The epiphany was... piano's can make dope bass lines! I liked the darkness, I put John Denver's poem overtop of it, then felt guilty for using his stuff so now it is just an instrumental that still bears the name "The Box" after John Denver's poem.
