Artist picture
Lake Fork Verne and his banjo. Original country and Americana songs. Songs of yesteryear, growing up during the great depression 1930's and the way things are
Just me and my banjo...writing and singing about how things used to be long ago in the 30;s and 40's and how those experiences affect today. I started out wanting to get on record these stories and songs for my grandchildren; but after doing it for a while, others have expresses interest so we are recording and putting them out there.

Memories Copyright by: Verne Garrison January 01, 2009 Valley Park, Mo Banjo Tuned E, Capo 2, Key of G Memories G C If it wasnt for picking up coal G Along the railroad tracks C And picking up corn G And putting it in sacks D7 It would have been a rough time G Growing up C We needed the coal G To keep us warm D7 And the sacks of corn, G They earned us some pay C Basic things were short G Never in good supply D7 Nothing was taken for granted G It was so hard to get by C If we had a nickle G We were as rich as could be D7 It never entered our minds G That others were better off than we C But we stuck together G Through thick and thin D7 Hoping things would get better G And they did, near the end C Now all of the hard times G At last are behind me D7 And the more that I ponder G They are pleasant memories tag: And the more I ponder They are pleasant memories....growing up during the depression
