Up-tempo, energetic power pop, and a Christmas song! Short and sweet. Featuring: Me on all the instruments and backing vocals, and various grunts, and liberal use of my new double pedal (thanks everyone!). Kandy on all of the good vocals :-)

Art chasing sound.
The band is me. I have been a musician since age 7 (i'm 44 now), and that's pretty much all I did. By age 32 I was working in an average of 6 bands at a time and still practicing 36 hours a week. That's when I got nerve damage in both my arms and couldn't use them for 5 years...not for eating, lifting, playing...anything. 2 surgeries and 3 more years recoup, and I am back in short bursts. I write and track everything in 1 take as I can't play for long. Guitar is my main instrument (studied it the most), but have been playing drums and bass since age 10, and have actually worked the most as a drummer. I can't really use my left arm much so i drum with my fingers. It gives it a unique sound. (Don't worry, it's not wimpy... I can still break sticks!)

Story behind the song
The tradition was officially started last year in 2007, when, as a gift for our friends we recorded a song. This year, we did something a little different for Christmas and I thought that the song should reflect that. We left Christmas Day open for a pajama party for people who had nothing going on, and had a big turkey dinner with dancing, Wii, and fun and frivolity for all and by all. The song needed to be up-tempo, so I chose the fastest tempo I could comfortably downstroke for three minutes. (harder that one might think) A 1-4-6-5 progression was seemingly mandatory in a song like this, but I did manage to squeeze in a section with a Phrygian five chord in 7/4 time. (in honor of our friend Buzzy who hates the number 4) A song of this pedigree would usually require bass to be played with a pick, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. The drums turned out to be a combination of a late start, and an energetic intro that quickly faded... I hit record in the control room and by the time I got behind the kit in the studio the song was in the middle of the 7 section. I figured I would noodle and warm up to the song and hit it for real the second time around. As I was playing I thought "This is coming out pretty cool, the real take should rock." but alas... By the second time around in the middle of the the first verse, I couldn't play anymore, (arms died) and I stopped. So, I pieced the two together and voilà! ...Another guitar track with the crunchy amp had my name on it, then a rockin' solo and some 80s keyboards, and it was pretty much dones-ville...(my part anyway...) Kandy is responsible for the lyrics and for making the song listenable with her awesome voice... I hope this gives you a little insight into our Christmas, and if you were there, I hope it provides you with a trigger for a good memory. Merry Christmas and happy Holidays to everyone! Peace, Kai
Lyrics
It's Christmas time 2008 was great and our gift to you is this little melody all about a letter we received Santa wrote us with his Christmas wish... He said he really wants to see more dancing Christmas morning Nothing else makes him happy like seeing kids dancing by the tree. In their PJs and their socks Santa loves to see them rock around the clock so grab your family by the hand... Turn on the Christmas jams and do the Monkey and the Twist, the Pogo now Hard-Core and swing your fist and Mosh like you have never Moshed before for Santa. Now everybody's dancing, dancing in their pajamas, dancing for Santa. (Repeat) Gather all around the tree and Shih Shih Shih shake your booty Get your air guitar ready for the shredding solo... (insert Guitar Hero solo here) Dance, Dance Dance in your pajamas dancing for Santa Dance Dance Dance Dance! (Repeat ad infinitum)
