Truly great old-style gospel and certainly Christian singers (singas!) from the Denver metropolitan area.
This band showcases some incredibly talented Denver singers on two CD's, Mommy sings God's Love Vol 1 and Old School Church Vol 1. Instrumental music is mostly by keyboardist Chuck Abernethy, who produced the CD's. MSGLV1 was released in Dec., 2008. OSCV1 was released in Sept., 2004.

Story behind the song
Mrs. Sweet's recording session also included "Lil' David Play on Your Harp" and "Lift Every Voice and Sing." Since then she has become a closer friend to us. A newspaper's event columnist, mother, the wife of a minister and the recipient of many service awards, her voice is incomparable. This arrangement is simple: a vocal solo with piano accompaniment. We just love how she extends her voice on the last note of the song.
Lyrics
lyrics and music: Traditional Ezekiel Saw De Wheel Intro (Like the first three and the last lines of the chorus) Chorus Ezekiel saw de wheel ‘Way up in de middle of the air Ezekiel saw de wheel ‘Way in the middle of de air De big wheel run by faith And de little wheel run by de grace o’ God. A wheel in a wheel— ‘Way in de middle of de air. Verse 1 Better mind, my sister how you walk on de cross. ‘Way in de middle of de air. Your foot might slip an’ you soul be lost. ‘Way in de middle of de air. Chorus Verse 2 Let me tell you brother what a sinner will do. ‘Way in de middle of de air. He’ll step on you, an’ he’ll step on me. ‘Way in de middle of de air. Chorus (End)

One of my favorite spirituals. Claudette, you did an excellent job singing this.
