Kind of an old Mowtown flavor to this one. Takes me back to my early days growing up in Detroit during the '70's....

Funky Alternative Blues Rock with an acoustic Guitar and Harp. This CD is a completely solo effort written, performed, produced and mixed in my own home studio
I’m just a working guy that loves to play music. Did some writing and recording in 2007 & ’08 and here are some of the results. I do a solo acoustic bit locally now and haven’t played in bands for awhile but who knows what's next. I’m always open to new stuff. I wrote, play all of the instruments and sing the songs that you’re hearing. Also mixed and produced them in my home studio. Still compiling enough original material to fill up a CD but I’ll soon be there. So much music and so little time! I know there are a lot of folks out there that are making music but not that many that do the entire thing. For this CD I really wanted it to be a TRULY SOLO effort! Anyway, I hope these tunes will keep you listening! Enjoy! All the Best- Acoustic Alternative Pat

Story behind the song
There is a Steely Dan song called 'Dr Wu' from the album 'Katy Lied'. This is one of my all time favorite pieces of music… If you haven't heard it, check it out- it's absolute genius.+ The song 'Dr. Wu' is about an obsession with a mythical 'Katy' (Fagan's Addiction- cocaine, I think). Katy is lovely, sly and sings a familiar song to those people who are inclined to such an addiction. Dr. Wu was one of Fagan's Rehab Doctors who counseled him through this period of time and it would appear Fagan held him in somewhat high regard. In the end, Dr Wu becomes seduced by 'Katy' as well, and becomes simply another addict.+ 'Number One' continues on the idea of a treacherous woman (Katie) that has a tragic and destructive grip on someone. It is the same sort of obsessive-compulsive behavior that the drug addict might face. The addict must rid themselves of this habit (Katie) or they will be destroyed.+ There is a widely accepted school of thought that a spiritual solution is the only known remedy for this type of problem. The idea of establishing a spiritual connection with a Higher Power or God (Number One) in which to rely upon has to be the main ingredient of the solution. That Higher Power must always remain Number One in the priority structure of the addicts life.+ On the surface, it would appear this song is about dumping a mesmerizing but horrible girlfriend and instead, becoming self sufficient. It indicates that it would be better to be 'on our own', rather than with someone like Katie. It even goes so far as to suggest the idea of self gratification. All of these inferences were absolutely intentional.
Lyrics
Number One Danny told me that Katie lies Said, he could see it, in her eyes But my head was stuck, way up in the sky The pieces crashed, around my mind Well I tried to run, but I couldn’t move She left me standing, like another fool That smile she has, it never goes away She’ll sell your soul- and then she keeps the change Now its time to leave- I know it’s time to go When the feeling’s gone- inside your soul I’ll say goodbye- and won’t look back The times before- if I could get them back… I won’t forget- I won’t be that dumb And I’ll take care of- Number One Chorus: Number One- Number One I’m getting hold of that Number One Tell no lies- gonna have some fun Cause I’m getting it on with- Number One Number One- Number One You can’t go wrong with- Number One Now Katie’s gone and I’m okay Got someone else to look her way Won’t play her game, no not again She never really was my friend I’m bopping round with number one It brings me back, where I come from When its time to leave- when it’s time to go When there’s nothing left- inside your soul You say goodbye- and then you don’t look back Those times before- yeah, you can get them back Now don’t forget- don’t be that dumb No, don’t forget about- Number One Chorus: Number One- Number One Said I’m getting hold of my Number One Tell no lies- and then I’m done Cause I’m getting it on with- Number One Number One- Number One I can’t go wrong with- Number One Said if you knew Katie, like I knew Katie You’d be getting it on with Number One Said if you knew Katie, like I knew Katie You’d be looking around for that Number One Number One- Number One We’re getting it on with Number One
