Story behind the song
The opportunity to lessen some of the distress American's are experiencing through humor.
The concept for the CD "Have Yourself a Recessionary Christmas" was conceived while I was listening to the holiday classic "The Little Drummer Boy" (on December 15th of this year), and the background vocals "Pa rum pum pum pum" sounded too much like "Barack Obama" to just let it go. within two days wrote a full eight song parody, recorded it over the next two days, packaged the CD and start to finish was less than a week (either you get it out by Christmas or you wait 'til next year).
Lyrics
(To the tune of Have a Holly, Jolly, Christmas)
Not a holly, jolly Christmas,
In the year two thousand eight.
Default swaps, the NASDAQ drops,
And mortgage payments late.
Not a holly, jolly season,
‘Tis the worst in eighty years.
Doomsday themes, and Ponzi schemes,
Economic fears.
No, no, won’t run out of dough,
Ben Bernanke says so.
Print more, ship it out the door,
Disregard the quid pro quo.
Be a holly, jolly Next Year,
Though the rebound may come late.
Oh by golly,
Just don’t be a folly
As was, '08.
