Artist picture
Singer songwriter Jed Marum's music is folk, roots and bluegrass in style. With an earthy country and celtic air, he brings real-life stories to song with humor
I love music. I've been playing guitar since I was 10 years old and along the way I sang everything from old folk songs to rock and blues.Today I make a living playing a mix of Folk/Bluegrass and Celtic music venues around the US. I write a lot of the music I sing and I play banjo, guitar and harmonica. I have endorsement from Larrivee Guitars.

Lyrics
Yankee in Texas - (c) Jed Marum 2005 Well I'd never been south and it got me to thinkin' Growin' up as I did in the land of Lincoln I had a rovin’ heart, for a family man So I packed the wife and kids in movin' van Now I'm Boston born and Boston raised I'm sometimes scorned and sometimes praised But the smarttest thing that I ever done Was move the fam'ly to in 1991 Yeah we're talkin' the Lonestar State Home to Lyle Lovett, Townes Van Zandt and Sweet little, Governor Annie Richards! Well I worked for Herb in those early days I put southwest travelers on them big orange planes I learned the Lonestar style, and took the change in stride Instead of Boston Baked I took my beans refried. I learned that oak is Live and pine Ponderossa Heard songs from Robert Earl Keen and Tish Hinihosa I met Nolan Ryan and some of George Straight's exes And I learned I was a Yankee when I moved to Texas Yeah, this is a place where COLDBEER is one word and you celebrate holidays like: Cinco de Mayo ... and Alamo Day ... And Juneteenth! CHO: Well the stars burn bright in Texas I swear it's true, now y'all! They're big and bright in Texas If they're anything at all! I wasn't born in Texas, But if the good Lord hears my cry I'll make my home in Texas and live until I die! Well the years spun by and we put down roots I found me a hat, and put some boots And you know I haven't quite conquered a credible drawl But I have mastered; "fixin' to" and "yes ma'am" and "y'all" I quit my day job now I'm followin a star I know only too well what my short-comings are I got gangly legs and some of Freud's complexes But I never knew I was a Yankee 'til I moved to Texas! Yeah, this is Bush country! Sam Houston and San Jacinto Rodeo and the State Fair Repeat CHO
