Story behind the song
There are so many of these nice good ol' countryish folk ballads about heros or anti-heros, and I wanted to write one myself. Here it is.
Lyrics
THE STORY OF LONESOME JOE by Bob T. Guevara E A E Lonesome Joe ridin' down a lonesome trail D G D Lonesome Joe hidin' a sad tale. G A F E Lonesome Joe spent the last ten years A F E Down in a rotten Texas jail. Lonesome Joe was born in a little railroad town. Lonesome Joe listened to the sound of the engines pound. Lonesome Joe hopped on one of these trains, Following that lonesome whilste's sound. Lonesome Joe ran into Jack one day. To Lonesome Joe, Jack did say: "Joe, I search a strong man for a hard job And for this job, lots of money I will pay!" When Lonesome Joe accepted he didn't knew What cruel things for this job he would do. If he'd knew what he would do, he'd surely refused, He'd denied and lied if necessary too. But so Jack just sent him all the way down south. Joe rode through herds of buffalos and cows. Joe finally reached his goal out on the Texas plains, Without a single drop of water in his mouth. Now they tell the stroy of Lonesome Joe Throughout the land wherever you may go. They tell you not to take a job before you know what it is, They tell you not to do as Lonesome Joe.
