This song is about one man's realization that the good things in life are gifts from God. Not a religious song per se, just gives an awareness of sorts.

Artist Information Biography A southern upbringing and Elvis, Merle and Conway and Cash always on the radio was how Country music became my musical core. I played drums and sang all through high school but chose the military career instead of music. I served 11 years as an Army Officer, won the Bronze Star Medal for actions in the Gulf War, and worked in the corporate world, before I started writing songs about a year ago. Unexpectedly, lyrics and melodies were just there and I just had to get them out. It wasn't until I received what I am convinced was a sign from above that I realized I had to follow this new path to wherever it may lead. Living in New York is a great experience but it can be scary at times. I was confronted by four guys late one night on the subway. All of a sudden, someone who I am convinced was my guardian angel intervened and before I could even even thank him; he was gone. What finally showed me that music was my path, was seeing my guardian angel on the subway again recently. He was sleeping on one of the benches in the same subway car that I was in. and didn't even say a word. I had to see was that cradled in his arms, like he was protecting his most prized possession, was a beat up, worn out and well used old electric guitar! At that moment I knew. The next day, I received a songwriting contract offer. So here I am. Thanks so much for stopping by

I Really Thanked God © Copyright 2008. Weston James Music. Words and Music by Weston James (BMI) VERSE I I was driving home last evening when I got to thinking 'Bout all the good things and the blessing in my life I had a loving family, I had my health, good friends around me My life had turned out great, and I'd never wondered why And I was humbled; yeah truly humbled Cause then I thought CHORUS What if the good things in my life had turned out bad? What if I didn't have all the blessings that I had? What if I was sick? Oh man what if I was poor? What if the ones I loved didn't love me anymore? Yea I sure had a lot of things to really be thankful for And for the first time yea for the very first time I really thanked God, I really thanked God VERSE II Then like a man on a mission I raced home to my wife and kissed her Told her what had happened, what I'd come to realize Though I hadn't planned it , I was taking my life for granted And that starting right then and there, there's be some changes in my life Then I cried, you know I hit my knees and cried And then I said REPEAT CHORUS BRIDGE And for the first time in my life, I could finally see Giving thanks and giving back is the way it oughta be REPRISE What if I had made a turn that turned out wrong? What if I had found myself somewhere I don't belong? What I woke today and everything was all gone? What if it were gone, long gone? REPEAT CHORUS TAG and FADE Yea I sure had a lot to be thankful for And for the first time yea for the very first time I really thanked God. You know I really thanked God Yea I sure had a lot of things in my life to be thankful for And for the first time yea but not for the last time I really thanked God. I really thanked God
