Lonesome is a place I wish I didn't have to be.
acoustic folk country lai
Lyricist on an endless quest for the perfect melody.
I'm afraid I can't claim to be a band, although I have been known to jump on a bandwagon from time to time. No, I'm just a humble lyricist who is in absolute awe of the composers who have stumbled into my life and bothered to wrap a melody around some of my words. I've been attempting to legitimately call myself a lyricist since I was about 14 years old. Have a listen, won't you, and let me know if I qualify.

Story behind the song
My pen was itching to write something, so I said, "Okay, how's this?"
Lyrics
Dancing Alone ©1999/2008 Greg C. Brown & Mike DeShazer I can smell her perfume across a thousand miles, It reaches over all geography. She was so entrancing, especially when she smiles, I keep her locked inside a memory. Graceful as an angel who dances in the night, She turned my heart around with every move. I wrapped her up in passion but held her much too tight, And lost her when I had too much to prove. -CHORUS- So tonight I’ am dancing alone, I’m dancing alone With nothing but the shadows of the night to comfort me. Dancing alone, I am dancing alone, And lonesome is a place I wish I didn’t have to be. How she loved the darkness; it took her far away, She closed her eyes and moved with velvet ease. Though I tried to follow her every swing and sway, Somehow she slipped away upon a breeze. -CHORUS- When it comes to love I’ve got two left feet, I bumbled and I stumbled through every scene. But when we were together I felt so complete; We moved like Fred and Ginger on the screen. -CHORUS- Alone, I’m dancing alone Alone, I’m dancing alone Alone, I’m dancing alone.
