THE SERENITY PROJECT was created by composer, producer, engineer, James Phillips as a launch pad for in house projects recorded in Serenity Recording Studio. James was once signed to Columbia Records with the band Small Wonder. James later went on to work as a studio musician and recorded with such artists as, The Pointer Sisters, Leo Sayer, Tina Turner, and Burton Cummings among others. James now records for his own SERENITY RECORDS label.

Story behind the song
As the disciples fall asleep, Jesus goes off alone to pray. He prays 3 times to God the Father to let the coming events pass, but if it is God's will, he accepts. After each prayer Jesus tries to awaken the disciples, but they drift off to sleep again. The main theme for this section is a Gregorian Kyrie which means, "Lord have mercy".
