A Description of a Very Peculiar People
songwriter acoustic ballads blues keyboards 12 string dan matheny
Solo act playing original and cover material on 12-string and keyboards. Available for booking in Central Oklahoma.
I have been playing and writing songs for more years than most of you have been alive. I started classical piano when I was 8, 12-string guitar when I was ten, and wrote my first song when I was 16. I am largely self-taught, but have benefitted greatly from the many bands I've played with over the years. I've also been an avid listener of music, and sought to incorporate many different styles into my songwriting. As you will hear, my songs reflect the fact that I've been many places and done many things other than just play music. They have, in the original sense of the word, character.

Story behind the song
Listening to my neighbor's wolves howling, I was in a very strange mood, I guess.
Lyrics
V1 I came here to the good land, Seeking God and all His saints, I came as just good man, To the good land. V2 I left my troubles far behind me, Couldn't wait to see 'em end. But then I came here to the good land, As a good man. CHORUS Where ya gonna go, And who ya gonna know, Where ya gonna go, And who ya gonna know, In the good land? V3 I see the houses they've built here for me, Made of wood and plastic stone, And then I hear the laughter behind me, To remind me. V4 I hear the wolves outside my doorway, Must be feeding time again. So I take them what I have Just the scraps now.
