Hi! Welcome to my music page! I write, sing and produce contemporary Christian inspirational and worship songs that reflect my journey of faith, my experiences in ministry as a missionary, and multi-cultural background, in both English and Mandarin Chinese. I was born in Taiwan. I lived in South America for 4 years before I came to study in the U.S. After I became a Christian, I also did some graduate study in Biblical Counseling. In 1996, God called me to go into the International Student Ministry as a missionary with ISI (International Students, Inc.). My husband David also got his calling and quit his post-doctoral research job at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab to join me in ministry in 2000. In 1994, I prayed for the gift of songwriting so I could tell people of God's love through songs, and God has been blessing me with songs after songs ever since. Over the years I gradually feel the Lord's nudging to publish these songs as a faithful servant should do with the talents given to him, particularly after surviving a car accident which reminded me to seize the time to use these songs for God's purpose and glory. And I thank God for my husband David who has given me tremendous encouragement and technical support to help me fulfill this music ministry calling. Most of my songs come from my meditation of God's Word, my own journey of faith and my experiences in ministry. The themes range from Christian growth, praise & worship, prayers, evangelistic messages, to some counseling-related topics. While the styles of music may vary from Pop, Ballads, Dance, Jazz to Latin, Chinese, most are soothing, uplifting and upbeat. My prayer is that God will use these songs to encourage and edify those who hear them as He has blessed me, and to help people come to know Him and make Him known. My Chinese CD "Soaring High" was released in Dec. 2009. Physical CDs and digital albums are available through Amazon.com. Songs also on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. Thank you for your support. I hope you would be blessed by these songs, and would also appreciate your feedback. Thank you & God bless!

Story behind the song
This song was partly inspired by the book The Thomas Factor by the missionary evangelist Winkie Pratney. God blessed me so much while reading this book that a song started to arise in my heart. We all know what it is like to have our dreams vanish right before our eyes and go through dark doubting hours when our faith in God wavered and we wondered what had gone wrong. Maybe it is a heartbreaking break-up, a marriage that is falling apart, wandering children, estranged family relationships, a lost promotion or job, or a mission/vision that is just taking way too many twists and turns and way too long to realize. Joseph was no stranger to shattered dreams and suffering. He waited many long and hard years before the dream from God finally became a reality. Instead of being bitter and give up on God and people, he chose to trust and honor God even at the risk of imprisonment, losing his job or even his life. He was betrayed by his own brothers, abandoned, falsely accused and imprisoned, and forgotten by men, but God never left him. He gave Joseph favor with men and made everything he did prosper even while enslaved and imprisoned until He was second to none but Pharaoh. Like Elijah, we all depend on the supernatural provision of a brook, a source of life, motivation, inspiration, or nourishment. It may be people or things that we have grown to depend on, be it your job, income, close friends and family, etc. Change is the natural course of life and a necessity in our spiritual journey for us to move into a deeper realm of intimacy with God and a different task He gives us in different seasons of life. It also calls us to depend more on God rather than ourselves or others, and sometimes get us to reset our priorities. Our brook may be dried up at one point but God¡¦s provision and grace never will. Sometimes other's sins and/or our own sins caused the dream to vanish into thin air. Sometimes it is just God redirecting us or preparing us to make us ready for the challenges that come with the dream. God says in the scriptures that He will give us dreams and visions, and that He has a plan for our lives. If the dream is from God, and not our own self-seeking ambition, He will accomplish it in due time through our perseverance and submission. We may not see His purpose in our shattered dreams and dried up brook right now. But when we trust in His wisdom and grace, we will see how He makes all things work out for the good of those who love Him and how He uses those changes to take us to a higher ground and use us in a different way for His glory. Commit your way unto the Lord, trust also in him, and He shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:7)
Lyrics
When Dreams Self-Destruct Music & Lyrics by Luisa Lin When dreams self-destruct When hopes went bankrupt When the world just fell apart Be still, oh troubled heart Though the brook is dried up The birds you sent are gone Not forsaken or forgotten You still call us to go on No pain is too deep that He cannot heal No problems too great for His endless grace He gives beauty for ashes, bounty for my poverty If it¡¦s a dream that he gives, He will make it real. So I lift up my heart and my hands to you Get back on my feet for what¡¦s yet to come With a pure heart and bowed knees I look to you You turn troubles to treasures Build your dreams anew For the dreams that he gives, he will make it real Copyright 2008Luisa Lin Written, Performed and Produced by Luisa Lin
