Please God by Lewis Greer and Gary Dugan © Dugan and Greer, 1999 Well I have to admit when I take a look back my life was pretty good— I had a pretty wife, two pretty kids and a pretty nice neighborhood. But the pretty I saw had one little flaw — it couldn’t cover my sin And when I looked into my life I saw ugliness again. And I fell to my knees and I cried Hear my pleas! Oh please God, please God. And I fell to my knees and I cried Hear my pleas! Oh please God. Hear my pleas God. And God up above, He heard my prayers like I guess He always does He answered me with a strange remedy — at least I thought it was. He said “You’ve got to learn just how to see what’s pretty and what is not So I’m gonna take some things from you, then we’ll find out what you’ve got.” Well He took my house, He took my job, He took my family He took it all and kept it safe and I was left with only me. And I fell to my knees and I cried Hear my pleas! Oh please God, please God. And I fell to my knees and I cried Hear my pleas! Oh please God. Hear my pleas God. After some time of livin’ with me I slowly understood The diff’rence between what I had seen and what was truly good. Now He can give some things to my care and trust that I’ll be wise My life’s turned around because I’ve finally found what’s pretty in His eyes. Now I fall to my knees and I pray Let me please You! Please God, please God. Now I fall to my knees and I pray Let me please You! Please God. Let me please God. Let me please You. Let me please God.
