Story behind the song
I wrote this song when my wife and I were separated for nearly 2 1/2 years. Luckily we got back together and are still together 8 years later. I'm glad things didn't turn out this way
Lyrics
The Starlight Cafe At the Starlight cafe you said you loved me At the Starlight cafe I held your hand With each kiss at seventeen Music spoke of hopes unseen At the Starlight cafe I said "I'm yours" At the Starlight cafe young love grew older From the window table where our lives unfurled Soon we had a little child Music soothed, caressed, beguiled As the world passed by the glass life changed our lives At the Starlight cafe we spoke of changes In a headlong rush through life those words grew harsh Daily trials took their toll Bitter music now cajoled At the Starlight cafe a light went out Bridge: Where are you Where are you Where are you now The music's full of questions What, Why, How At the Starlight cafe you said you loved me At the Starlight cafe you said good-bye All our dreams, our hopes, our fears Music dividing through the years Now the Starlight Cafe exists no more Repeat Bridge:
