(The Shelter)
They have ragged shirts and holey jeans
won't find their pictures in magazines
They live their lives stressed out from scenes
of destitution, if you know what I mean
Old Billy Taylor, he's a son of a gun
He's always searching for a little more fun
He finds it down around Leehigh and Vine
knows he can find it there most of the time
Sandy Jenson, in fear keeps so close an eye out
she knows that he's waiting still out and about
darkness her enemy, he still is her ghost
the one thing in life that she still fears the most
The stories of life all around us we see
some people will not fulfill their destiny
understanding and love can't exist on the streets
to a most desperate life that may seem incomplete
The will that we have to push on is so strong
that we push on and on and keep pushing on
So many are looking for pleasure in life
but the fact of the matter is some remain blind
To the people who struggle
each day of their lives
to try to get by, to try to try.
May they find their peace of mind in the end,
but better than that, may they find a true friend
who will help them to stay on that straight arrow path
and can offer some food, a bed and a bath.
