hurdy gurdy and piano
I am a pianist who also plays hurdy gurdy and I like to combine the two instruments (this is not possible on my own in real time!). Putting chordal piano music against droning gurdy melodies makes for an interesting combination, with or without the rhythmic buzz which has to be used with some care.

Story behind the song
The title is Dutch for 'summer sadness' referring to recent rainy weather in the UK and Netherlands! This is my piano-led version of Renate's original piece for two hurdy gurdies which is the opening track on our Diepstroming CD (available on www.zen7349.zen.co.uk). On this version my gurdy makes a very quiet entry but gains in importance as the piece runs through. The dreaded buzz is held back until it's run 2:45.
